Sugar View – Are you on the path to Prediabetes? Here’s how to know!

Do you think you’re pre diabetic? Want to know the symptoms?  Well you’re at the right place. In this blog we will be discussing the signs and symptoms of prediabetes.

Prediabetes is when the blood sugar level is higher than it should be but not as high to be diagnosed as Diabetes by doctors. 

Prediabetes usually leads to Type 2 Diabetes, heart and eye problems.

Symptoms of Prediabetes to look out for 

  • Frequent urination
  • Thirsty most of the time
  • Blurry vision
  • Feeling tired and lethargic most of the time

Prediabetes Risk factors and Causes:

  • Age over 65
  • Have/had PCOS (Polycystic Ovary syndrome)
  • If you consume a lot of red and processed meat, sugary drinks etc
  • Are obese or over weight
  • Have high cholesterol level 
  • Had gestational diabetes 
  • Gave birth to an overweight baby

Prediabetes Complications: 

Without proper treatment prediabetes can become type 2 diabetes and can cause other serious problems which includes kidney disease, high blood pressure, blindness, amputation etc 

You should get tested for prediabetes if you have any kind of heart disease, have had unusual blood sugar reading and also if your body shows signs of insulin resistance (fatigue, hunger, darkened areas of skin).

Take the following steps to reverse prediabetes

  • Follow a healthy diet
  • Lose weight
  • Avoid smoking
  • Keep your cholesterol under control
  • Take medications on time
  • There’s no proper diet to follow
