The one occasion that meat lovers wait for every year is Eid Ul Azha. Just the thought of barbeque and tikkas is enough to fill our mouths with saliva. But, if you are a person with any kind of heart disease or have recently discovered your high cholesterol levels, it must be a bummer for you.

One of the first things a heart patient is asked to do is to cut down on red meat and clean up their diet to a whole new level. The reason behind that is the crazy amount of fats that mix in our bloodstreams, go into our arteries and eventually clog them overtime. But, there is some good news for you. Recently, there has been a discovery on red meat that you can consume it without any worries.

Here are a few tips to keep your already weak heart from getting weaker.

Include the heart healthy beef cuts in your diet

American Heart Association has approved of the following beef cuts that are just fine for your kamzor dil. You just need to be a little proactive and make sure the beef you eat in all those dawats is taken from these cuts.

  1. Sirloin tip, which is a great value boneless, lean cut. It makes good kebabs and steak.
  2. Top sirloin, a lean cut that can be stir-fried, roasted or used to make kebabs and steak with the seasoning of your choice.
  3. Bottom round steak, a moderately tough cut that cooks best in moisture and can be used in stews or processed into cube steak.

According to studies, mutton, more specifically goat meat is leaner and has higher nutritional value than beef. It has lower cholesterol levels and saturated fats and could be a great alternative to other red meats.

Make green leafy salads a part of each meal

Pairing your meaty meals with leafy vegetables like cabbage and lettuce is an amazing idea as it does not only taste scrumptious but is also very helpful in regulating the harmful effects of meat.

Become best friends with a brisk walk

A brisk walk in simple terms is walking in moderate intensity which plays an essential role in maintaining the fitness of the heart and lungs. It can considerably lower down your cholesterol levels and the risk of heart attacks or any such complications can also be reduced significantly.

In the end, it’s important for every person to follow the above-mentioned tips in order to stay as distant from heart diseases as possible, considering their increasing prevalence over the past few years.
