I’m sure as a child you’ve been tired of being constantly pestered by your parents for incorporating a daily dose of yogurt in your diet. So, allow me to explain why this miraculous dairy-based product has more benefits than you could’ve possibly imagined. So let’s read ahead and find out the amazing benefits of yogurt!

Stock up on those Essential Nutrients

Calcium

Yogurt contains nearly every nutrient that your body needs to grow and flourish. Think of it as an all-in-one solution to your body’s requirements. Although different types of yogurts contain varying levels of sugars, artificial sweeteners and fat content, nearly all of them contain a generous dose of Calcium, which is important to maintain healthy teeth and bones.

Magnesium, potassium and phosphorus

Other nutrients involve significant levels of potassium, magnesium and phosphorous, all not just important for preserving bone health but regulating blood pressure and metabolism. Adding to this, these key nutrients also prevent the development of Osteoporosis, which causes low bone density and an increased possibility of bone fractures. Apart from this, Yogurt is also high in Vitamin B, particularly Vitamin B12 and Riboflavin, both of which protect against heart disease and neural tube defects. Not convinced yet? Well I’m not quite done here.

A tasty treat for all the Gym Freaks

Normal yogurt just so happens to contain a staggering amount of protein, with about 12 grams of protein per 200 grams of serving. On the other hand, Greek Yogurt offers a whopping 22 grams of protein per 200 gram.

Adding to being a cheap source for muscle building, it is also important for appetite regulation for all those who can’t help but ‘pig out’, as it increases the production of hormones that signal fullness. Also, if you didn’t know already, protein supports metabolism by increasing the number of calories burnt throughout your day which aids in weight loss.

The Bottom-line

Less is more when it comes to choosing a healthy yogurt, with plain unsweetened varieties being the best. However don’t hesitate to mix things up with flavored yogurts or include them in other delicious recipes like a Yogurt Parfait perhaps. Not to mention, you can never go wrong with having a dollop of yogurt with your favorite meal. Hope this article turns you into the yogurt junkie your parents always wanted you to be. Until next time!
