FOODS TO GET RID OF HEARTBURN IN RAMADAN

When we think of the foods in Ramadan we only think of pakoras, samosas and even parathas in sehri.

Regardless of how tasty they are, we know that not only are they going to increase our cholesterol levels, thirst but also cause heartburn during Ramadan. 

Let’s read up on some of the foods that can help to get rid of heartburn in Ramadan and home remedies for heartburn relief.

DATES

Most of the muslims break their fast with dates – They are sunnah food for a good reason. Dates provide instant energy and are full of good carbs. It doesn’t even contain lots of sugar. Dates are full of fiber, potassium and magnesium. These help to be energetic for a long time. Because they are not heavy on the stomach, they don’t cause heartburn or acidity. They also lower the chances of an upset stomach. 

CUCUMBER

One of the best hydrating food options to get rid of acidity is Cucumber. Cucumber can be eaten in lots of ways. It can be added to salads, eaten with hummus, with yogurt and even eaten separately. It is the best light meal and helps you keep energized as it beats off post meal lethargy. It is also a good meal for those who are looking to shed some pounds in Ramadan.

WATERMELONS

We all know how watermelons are 90 percent water and are the best fruit to eat during Ramadan. Watermelons are rich in nutrients that help soothe the stomach and also helps in getting rid of heartburn during Ramadan. 

BOILED VEGETABLES

Vegetables usually don’t overload the stomach if eaten in appropriate amounts. They prevent acid reflux and heartburn. Boiled vegetables sautéed with olive oil can be very refreshing and fulfilling for the body. It is the ideal meal for Sehri. As it gets cleared from the stomach lining quickly, there’s no heartburn or acid reflux caused. 

YOGURT

Yogurt which isn’t sour is an excellent source of food to avoid heartburn. It soothes the stomach and helps avoid discomfort, providing a cooling sensation. Having a bowl of yogurt will not only help getting rid of heartburn but also will keep thirst at bay. 

Apart from eating the foods mentioned to reduce heartburn instantly avoid overeating. Limit oily, fried and spicy foods, if possible go for a walk after meals, don’t skip your medication because skipping medications can cause health issues and make sure to drink plenty of water.
