Dengue & Chikungunya: Symptoms & Precautions You Should Know About

With viral fever, cough and flu in the air nowadays, we need to be more cautious about our health. Monson season, recent rain system coupled with the slaughtered waste of Eid ul Azha serve a breeding ground for various diseases. Illnesses like dengue and chikungunya become widespread, so you should look out for signs and symptoms and take precautionary actions to keep these diseases at bay.


Both chikungunya and dengue are known as ‘bone breakers’ as these diseases cause immense joint and muscle pain. It is important to note that severe muscle pain is not the only major symptom that signifies that you are suffering from dengue or chikungunya, there are other symptoms as well that you must not ignore. These symptoms are as follows:
1. Sudden high fever
2. Severe exertion
3. Constant headache
4. Nausea and vomiting
5. Sore throat
6. Muscle and joint pain
7. Rashes


When you notice above mentioned symptoms, you should immediately go to see your doctor. Early detection and diagnosis can save you from pain and troubles. You can also take the following precautionary actions to prevent dengue and chikungunya.
1. Reduce the chances of mosquito bites by wearing full sleeve tops and shirts
2. Use mosquito repellent at home or office
3. Apply mosquito repellent creams and lotions
4. Keep your space and surroundings neat and clean
5. Clean domestic water storage containers
